I feel and hope my journal will shed light upon us all. I want humans to understand the warmth and ever-unyielding love I have for you, past to the present.

2026 March 26 - Royalton, VT

My human and I went to our friend's at Magic Mountain, Royalton, Vermont. Bringing smiles and warmth! I'm barking out a huge THANK YOU to all my new friends.

2025 OLD HOME DAYS - Royalton, VT

I met so many new human friends at Old Home Days - July 31st and August 2nd, 2025. My human and I were at work doing what I love to do more than anything, bringing smiles and warmth! I'm barking out a huge THANK YOU to all my friends and our walks around the green.

JULY 2025 ROAD TRIP

My humans and I went on a road trip to Ticonderoga, New York, where I got to shed light upon other humans. I love and look forward to the smiles and warmth I get from being around humans in my community.

Wow, that's a lot of water!

SOUTHERN STATE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY - Springfield, VT

My human, a friend of ours from work, and I arrive at the Southern State Correctional Facility. What a great group of humans.

Although my time with them was short, I felt and knew I was in a safe, secure, and compassionate place!

MY NEW HOME AND LOVE SEAT

The new human and I arrive at a house I've never seen or been to before.

The new human and I got out of the car. New place with new and weird smells with all kinds of new unfamiliar things around me.

Wait? I could smell and sense something new. One Second, new human. What are these new smells? Who is that?

WOW! OMG! Another dog! I was so beyond happy to meet her, but scared at the same time. Who is this new dog?

I look up and suddenly I'm met by another new human, she knelt and gave me such a warm hug... Ok, there are those tears again.

Wait, why is she crying... Oh, those are those human happy tears. Weird right? Happy and crying at the same time, ok, it's a human thing, but I felt loved and gave her kisses!

We all went into the house, it felt warm, I felt secure, and with my new human family.

WHO IS LAYNE?

Let me tell ya about Layne! A Terrier mix, Layne is smaller than me, but she has a knack for making me feel like she is bigger at the same time.

Layne took me under her wings; she's going to teach me everything about being a part of this human family.

We began playing all the time. Sometimes, Layne would get so testy when I took her toys, but I knew all I had to do was stay calm, and Layne would hide the toys, and we'd play tug of war all day.

In the beginning, Layne got upset when I would hug my new humans. My humans taught Layne and me a lot about sharing, and they divided their attention between Layne and me at the same time. Wait, I wanted to help too. So, to help Layne, I gave her love and a lot of kisses.

I felt so warm here in my new home, and BONOUS! I now have a new sister!

You know, when I met Layne, she, too, was on a journey like mine. Layne came from a very loving family. She told me that she loved and would never forget how to love those humans. Now, we continue our journeys together.

ROAD TRIP

My human and I were on a road trip one day, you see, we've been on many road trips together before, but this one was weird.

We've stopped? Hmmm...Hey...Why is my human getting out of the car and walking away from me...I jumped into the driver's seat from mine to get a better look... Wait, where is he going? Why are there stopped cars in front of us?

Ok, my human left the window down for me...

So, I jumped out of the car to catch up to my human. Hey, who are these other humans on the ground? Wait, these humans are sad. I don't like seeing sad humans, so I ran past my human so I could help myself to them... Oops, I ran right by my human.

My human let me help the sad humans, and then we got back into the car after my human knew my help and his was not needed.

FIRST HOLIDAYS WITH MY HUMANS AND LAYNE

It was a cool day, I think they call it Thursday or Thanksgiving. OMG! The smells were soooo good! I had all I could do not to drool.

Then my humans put up a tree, which looked like a pine tree but did not smell like one. Also, it glowed blue and white, and had a star on top of it.

One evening I went to sleep, and the next day there were so many presents.

Then my humans celebrated something they called New Year's Eve. WOW, what fun, happy, and loving emotions my humans shared with Layne and me.

MY TRAINING VEST - WOW!

It was spring, and I had been keeping an eye on my human; this winter, he seemed sad. My human began bringing me to new places, and I would meet new humans.

I started training my human. Hey, human, tell me to sit... Ok, now stay...very good, let's try down. We'd walk together, and I would always listen and watch my humans.

WAIT ONE SECOND, I SMELL SOMETHING?... WAIT A SECOND!..BOO YEAH, A SQUIRREL..CAN'T WAIT TO TELL LAYNE.

What is that rodent doing? Got to keep an eye on it, I can smell the squirrel...I know there's another one nearby, too. I feel a gentle tug...oh yeah, I'm training...back to work.

Meeting humans came naturally to me, and I always greet them with warmth and a kiss, well, of course, only if they want one.

Every time I would meet new humans. The new humans always seemed to be happier when they left.

My human, at times, needed me too, and for my human, a simple nudge and a look is all he needs. I could sense this, and he was happier for it! I get him to get up, and we'd go for a walk.

You see, I can tell when my human is having an emotional day, and one day in March, my human gave me a training vest, and ever since, my human and I have been training.

I began going with my human to work. I love to play, and I began to get more play time with my human as I learned to work with other humans more often, too.

GREAT VERMONT FLOOD OF 10–11 JULY 2023

I woke up to a roar, the noise on my house's roof made me super anxious, I was scared, and curious. I went to my loveseat and watched the rain fall.

My human said, "Skye ready to go to work?" Oh...you know what, he doesn't have to ask twice, I'm always ready for a road trip. We were on our way to the area of Bethel and Royalton, Vermont.

The rain was terrible, and at times, the roar coming from the roof of the car made me scared and anxious, but I felt safe with my human, for we were a team. In places, I had to walk through water with my human.

My human and I heard a request for help... Another human is stuck in her house and needs our help.

Along with my humans' firefighter friends, we went through the woods, I followed behind, and we made it to the location where the human was stuck.

I met with a human in need of my help, I gave the human my attention, the human seemed happier and then we all left.

A job well done, and I was so glad to know the human was ok!

OUTDOOR MYSTERIES WITH LAYNE
My sister Layne and I do not have the same excitement when going on road trips.

You see, Layne was anxious about riding and would let us know, too. But, OMG! how Layne did like to go on a "Walk About".

Layne and I one day, while we were out at my human brother's house. Layne looked at me, and I knew she had stumbled upon a mystery. WOW! I, too, caught on to the new smell and down to the ground our noses went.

Yep, Smell after smell, mile after mile, minutes turned to hours. Layne and I were surely set upon the scent, even though, every so trace we were going to solve the mystery. Whatever it took, Layne and I were going to find the source of the smell and solve the mystery, let me tell ya!

Wait, just one second, what's this? Layne found a new smell; she said it was fresh. So, off we went to continue our shenanigans and solve the mystery behind the new smell. Layne and I checked every stone, every tree; we did not care what we walked in or through, we were on a mission. Nothing was left behind but our growing smell of hard work.

It was hours until we decided to check back in with our humans, so we worked our way back to my human brother's house for a break.

Hey, we got back, and you know it, they had gone to sleep. Not only my humans, but "Hunter" and "Winnie". We were happy to see our humans, but for some reason, Layne and I were brought home, and well, Layne and I got a bath!

Our Mystery unsolved, wait on minute, wouldn't you know it, Layne the perpetrator's scent was located at our house! Let's solve the mystery!

2022 - MY NEW HUMAN

One day, still a puppy, I met a new human for the first time! I did not know this new human at all. He was dressed in dark clothing, and he smelled funny, too. OMG! He's walking towards me, stay calm. Before I knew it, I was being picked up. Ok, but then he put me down. What is this guy doing? I was nudged to the floor. What is going on?

He pet me behind my ears, scratched my back, pinched my tail...Hey...what is this guy doing? He stood up. This guy is tall, and he was so big, and he did smell funny.

He was moving around, he made me sit, then he made me lie down, then up, then sit again. He couldn't make up his mind. Wait a minute, now he's rolling me over onto my back! All the while, I knew I needed to remain calm!

Now the guy is down on the ground at my level, and he just smiled. He came so close to my nose, I could not help myself, I kissed him. Although I was sooooo anxious meeting this new human, I remained calm!

I went back to my human, he pet me, and then he gave me a look I hadn't seen on him before. I could feel he was sad.

I was placed in the new human's car for a ride. I love to ride in cars!

I watched the new human as I sat in the front seat. The new human kept reaching over to pet me. This helped me with my anxiety, and I felt so calm...I didn't know it at the time, but my path had changed as I journeyed to a new home.
